Appearance in Seymour Parade and Honor Flight

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Contact Shannon Stone, Campaign Manager,  (920) 737-3546

On Saturday, August 7, the birthplace of the hamburger, Seymour, Wisconsin, celebrated that event with it’s 22nd Annual Burger Fest, which included a parade.

Helping to celebrate was 5th Assembly District candidate Craig Fletcher. Fletcher along with his wife, some family members, friends and campaign volunteers had the fun and honor of riding in the parade on a World War II Jeep Willy.

The Willy’s saw plenty of action across Europe, Asia and Africa, and Fletcher, who is both a Navy veteran and served in the Wisconsin National Guard couldn’t have been more pleased. “This is a fitting tribute since we are losing the Greatest Generation at a very fast rate as they age into their 80s and 90s,” Fletcher commented.

In fact, Fletcher is about to put his campaign on hold for just a couple of days while he participates in an Honor Flight. The Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created to honor veterans of American wars. This network organizes and pays for transport of U.S. hero veterans to their respective memorials to reflect on what they accomplished. Top priority is given to senior veterans and those who are ill.
Fletcher will be escorting two such veterans to the war memorials in Washington D.C. This is something dear to Fletcher’s heart, as he knows that many war veterans were not recognized or honored upon their return to the states after serving their country under very difficult circumstances and conditions. Approximately 1,000 World War II veterans die every day, so it is with a grateful heart that Fletcher will participate in this program, giving him a chance to express his thanks to some of the bravest among us, while he learns the personal stories of two such men.
