The new phosphate rules that are being mandated by the DNR will cost Wisconsin taxpayers millions of dollars in new fees. These new mandates during one of the most severe recessions in our recent history will cost cities such as Green Bay up to $223 million and Appleton up to $50 million to do the retrofits at their sewage plants to meet these new guidelines. The operating costs will most likely double for these and other municipalities across the state. This will raise the average water bill of all Wisconsin homeowners.
“This is a perfect example of the steady stream of unfunded mandates coming down from Madison that impact our daily lives and further burden Wisconsin families already stretched to the limit with taxes and fees. We need to make a statement in the November election that these unfunded mandates must stop and that common sense become the norm in Madison and not the exception,” said Fletcher.
Please contact your Representatives in Madison and remember this excessive spending and overregulation in November’s election.
