Monday evening kicked off political newcomer Craig Fletcher’s bid for Wisconsin’s 5th District Assembly seat with an exciting fundraiser at Titletown Brewery in Green Bay. The fundraiser attracted more than 60 people and several well known Republicans including State Senate Assistant Minority Leader Glenn Grothman, State Representative Carl Van Roy, and former State Representatives Frank Lasee, Steve Wieckert, Judy Krawczyk, and Becky Weber. Other local legislators in attendance were County Supervisors Tony Theisen, Mary Scray, and Kathy Johnson. The keynote speaker was Senator Glenn Grothman.
Fletcher spoke for about ten minutes with a clear message. Wisconsin needs to return to responsible governing, bring businesses back to Wisconsin, and eliminate redundant and unnecessary programs. Fletcher stated, “I am concerned about the direction our government has taken in the last few years. Our leaders have made too many poor decisions that have resulted in lost jobs and lost businesses across the state. It is time to return to a sustainable government and start moving in the right direction again.” Fletcher’s speech was well received evidenced by clapping and cheers.
